We discussed having an EDC presence at strategy discussions and how we could widen our reach at student recruitment. There were discussions around creating a more inclusive learning environment by including disability, and staff as well as students.
We discussed a departmental code of conduct and how we can bring staff on board, as well as discussing mentoring opportunities and whether a departmental initiative would be useful. The next stages of our Athena Swan application were discussed, including a culture survey to PGT and interviewing staff and students in more depth.
MTD awards were discussed, specifically regarding nominations that were including people working extra hours. It was agreed that this is not a good message to send out for mental health and wellbeing reasons, disability and inclusivity. Finally we discussed the GTA recruitment process and how to move forward for the next term as the changes to contracts have been put back to the next academic year.
