At this meeting we focussed on reports from other activities. Chair met with Ioan Fazey about the new accountability structure and how to embed EDI throughout this. It was agreed at this that the EDI voice is important in all decision making processes; the difficulty is how to embed it. Chair met with Lisa Emberson to discuss plans for increasing the visibility and inclusiveness of the (ART and T&S) promotion process. Several ideas generated and more time is needed to ensure effective implementation. Chair met with T&S and teaching fellows in the department to discuss issues around their work. Several issues were raised which cut across all part-time staff.
Finally, it was announced recently that departments could get an extension on their existing AS award for one year (due to COVID-19 and the move to a 5 year award (currently 4 years)).
The committee also briefly discussed that the move to off-campus teaching would have differential impacts across staff due to personal circumstances (e.g. caring responsibilities) and the chair will raise this at DMT.
