Equity & Diversity Committee
Terms of Reference document
Purpose:
The Equity and Diversity Committee works to ensure that the Department of Environment and Geography embraces, celebrates and raises awareness of equity, inclusion and diversity. We identify barriers that prevent us from reaching our full potential as a department and create solutions to overcome those barriers.
Review:
Every 4 years, aligned to Athena Swan outcome notification.
Tasks:
- Oversee submissions to E&D awards, for example Athena Swan,
- Provide steer to other departmental committees on E&D issues
Reports to:
- DMT
- DRC
- BoS
- Staff meetings
E&D is a standing item on these committees. Chair of EDC sits on all these committees.
Meetings, minutes and other documents:
Stored on the committee’s Google Drive. Agenda and minutes sent via email to the group mailing list. All data and documents are confidential and all discussion is treated in the strictest confidence unless committee agrees.
- Our Terms of Reference (ToR) document was updated in 2024.
Current Membership
Membership/role is normally held for a three or four year period. Chair should be a member for a previous submission and may hold the role for 4 years to align with Athena Swan submissions.
