Applications Dashboard - Guidance Notes
This user guide is for academic and support staff who are involved in making decisions about a department’s direction and therefore have access to the application dashboard.
The Applications Dashboard replaces the weekly UG and PG application statistics snapshot. The information displayed by the application dashboard is updated nightly.
Assumed knowledge
Please note that within the reports, a ‘blank’ signifies zero, rather than an absence of information.
Related documentsinformation things side by side
Please contact your Faculty Marketing Manager for access to your departmental overview document and marketing plan.
With this report you will be able to:
- View the department’s current position (UG, PG and IPC applications and offers) and compare it to previous years
- Compare current and historic number for programmes within an admissions entity
- Analyse the data using different dimensions
Please note that in Tableau, you can only open one tab from one application at a time. If you need to compare data in different side by side, simply open up multiple versions of the dashboard (you can do this by right-clicking on your browser tab and selecting "duplicate").
How to use the filters

Faculty
| Faculty is preselected, based on admissions entity selected on dashboard homepage. |
Admissions entity | IPC doesn’t feature in the admissions entity list. For IPC information, please see the relevant tab. |
Programme | Note that there may be courses listed here that look live (as they have exiting students on them), but they are not live in terms of taking new applications. |
Applicant category
| Prior to 2018/19 cycle, applicant category was not split by H and E, so if you are running a comparison with years previous to 2018/9, be aware you are not comparing like for like. Please note that you will need to combine H and EU to see where you are placed in relation to your UGH target. HCI = Home Channel Islands. |

Admission route
| Main scheme - describes any application that comes in before UCAS Extra starts. RPA - a ‘record of prior acceptance’ describes students haven’t applied via UCAS. We notify UCAS and the student immediately shows as UF on our systems. |
