In the Tableau Development Hub, SIA have collated resources, documentation and guidance for fellow Tableau developers across the University.
This suite of pages is made up of a few main strands:
The SIA Tableau workbook style guide
A Tableau template containing many of the elements included in the style guide ready for use when updating or creating a report
A set of technical documents to help users to integrate this style guide and recommended best practices into their Tableau reports

For SIA colleagues the Tableau Template is called ‘Design Template’ and is saved in the Q drive: Q:\Tableau\Tableau Re-Design

For access to this workbook please contact business-intelligence@york.ac.uk. If you are a Tableau Desktop user we encourage you to download this workbook to use when building your own reports.
Making use of the template:
Once the template has been downloaded from the server you can…
a) Connect your data source and build your report within the template
b) Copy the dashboards from the template and paste them into your existing reports
c) Copy dashboard items on an individual basis into existing reports

Technical Documentation
Please see links to a suite of technical documentation designed to facilitate the implementation of the Tableau Style Guide.
The Tableau Template doc has most of these elements included and built ready for use, however, the template may not be compatible with every report’s need or source data. Therefore, please use this documentation to re-create elements of the style guide where necessary. Please also see technical notes on how to handle specific visualisations not covered in the template.
