For managers: processing your employee as a leaver

Here you can find information on what to do if your employee is leaving the university, or facing the end of their fixed-term contract. Please keep your employee informed throughout, as well as informing Lucy at environment-hr@york.ac.uk who can also help you through the process.


Fixed-term contracts coming to an end

You should monitor your employees' fixed-term contract / fixed-term funding end dates, and communicate any funding extensions or changes of contract to Lucy at environment-hr@york.ac.uk. Please see our Changes to contract pages for further information.


Lucy also monitors fixed-term contracts and will email you around six months ahead of an end date to see if there are any changes to be made. 


Please keep communicating with your member of staff so that they understand what is happening, as it can be a stressful time as they approach the end of their contract. If they need further support, you can refer to the Health and wellbeing wiki page.

Resignation

If your employee notifies you of their resignation, you should:


Lucy will process the leavers form. You will receive the HR ticket email; you should then go through the leavers checklist document with your employee.
