Allow time to go through the internal processes required before you submit your research applications to the funder. See Applying for Funding for more information.

Publication Eligibility for REF

You need to ensure that your publications are eligible for REF. Upon acceptance of your paper by the journal you need to deposit the manuscript on PURE within 3 months.

Departmental Research Committee



What Research Support do
The Research Support team provide all research-related services that are dealt with in-Department at York, including:

  • Pre-award for research and research-related projects

  • Consultancy

  • Departmental research strategy work, including provision of research metrics and support for Departmental Research Committee (DRC)

  • E&G Development Fund

  • Advice on Open Access and PURE (York's research data system)

  • REF (Research Excellence Framework).

Our pre-award support includes (but is not limited to):

  • Advice on eligibility and identifying suitable opportunities

  • Guidance on deadlines and internal processes

  • Costing projects and checking eligibility of costs

  • Sourcing previously successful applications to the funder

  • Liaising with other departments or organisations, e.g. if you need to use their lab facilities or include their staff on a project

  • Conducting lay (non-expert) peer review of your proposal

  • Drafting letters of support

  • Inputting costs into the funder portal.
