Calculating the volume of parts in Autodesk Inventor

In order to estimate the cost of a 3D printed part, you need to know it's volume. This can be found in Inventor using the following steps:


In the left hand pane expand the “Solid Bodies” folder:

Right Click on the solid body and click on “Properties”

Now in the “Body Properties” window, click the update button. This will tell Inventor to calculate the volume of the body:

The volume given will be in mm3, so we must divide it by 1000 to get the volume in cm^3 that we want.

In this case the calculated volume is 49244mm3, which is approximately 49.2cm3.

If you have more than one solid body in your design, then you must repeat this for each body and add the results together to find your total volume.
