Research Dashboards Data Access
There are a number of access models that are currently used for Research data:
Model | Access to be able to open the Workbook | Access to the data in the workbook | Workbooks following this model |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Via custom Tableau groups that require PIP approval | Users department or membership of certain groups for all data access | ADRR Portal |
2 | Via 'Research & Impacts' access that requires standard form approval | Users department or membership of certain groups for all data access | Research Income Comparison Research Sector Comparison |
3 | Via 'Research & Impacts' access that requires standard form approval | Only custom groups have access, membership of which requires PIP approval | REF modelling - optimisation detail (UoA) REF modelling - optimisation overview (UoA) |
4 | Via 'Research & Impacts' access that requires standard form approval | All data visible to anyone with access to the report | ADRR PGR Submission Rates Research Benchmarking |
5 | Via custom Tableau groups that require PIP approval | Only custom groups have access, membership of which requires PIP approval | REF modelling - optimisation detail REF modelling - optimisation overview |
Therefore, consideration needs to be given both to whether an individual is in the right group to be able to open the workbook as well as being in the right group to view data within it.
The following Tableau Report gives a list of all of the Research Workbooks with access control. If you select a report on the right-hand panel you will see a list of all of the Tableau Groups that can open that report at the top of the left hand panel. And details of the access different groups have to the data in the bottom panel on the left hand side

The following process diagram, should help work out how to progress someone's access request. There is no single answer to getting access to Research data, so it requires a bit of working it through and talking to PIP when its not very clear. Another option is to ask RSPO if there is another user that access can be modelled on
