Undergraduate and postgraduate

  • Our Computer Science building is located on Campus East. We house several dedicated undergraduate and postgraduate software laboratories, as well as two hardware laboratories.
  • In 2022, we celebrated the 50th year of the Department of Computer Science at the University of York.

Postgraduate-specific

  • Our building houses several research labs, including the Interactive Home Laboratory - where the Human-Computer Interaction research group undertake much of their research, along with their multi-disciplinary partners.

  • Range of specialist taught courses and research degrees tailored to prepare students to meet the needs of industry.
Key messages (UG and PGT)
  • Our courses are accredited by BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered IT Professional.
  • HackSoc, the Computer Science society - Student-led society which runs a mix of academic and social events including CoffeeScript, Board Games and Cake and HackPub.
  • Wide range of courses available including courses in Computer Science and courses with specialisms in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security. We also offer combined courses in Computer Science and Mathematics, enabling students to gain skills from both disciplines.

  • All courses are available with a year in industry.
