The information contained here is a guide to the steps you must take in order to be granted access to the Environment Building research laboratories

The process to follow is detailed below with links to specific documents and forms. 

CoSHH and risk assessment forms should be completed following discussions with your supervisor and will require their signature.

• Download and read the laboratory handbook
  • Laboratory Handbook- PDF version
  • Laboratory Handbook - Google Doc version
• Complete your lab user agreement form and return it via email to environment-safety@york.ac.uk
• Complete our online laboratory induction. 
• Complete and submit a general risk assessment form to environment-safety@york.ac.uk
• If you are using any chemical substances in any part of your work, complete and submit your CoSHH assessment(s) to environment-safety@york.ac.uk (You will be invited to make a copy to save an editable version of this document to your Google Drive, complete it and then share it with or send it to environment-safety@york.ac.uk)

• When you have completed the steps above, please
• Contact the Environment technicians in order to get a  Bookkit account set up to enable you to book lab equipment.
• Contact Dave Hay to update your KABA access card to give you laboratory access.
