Info

This page contains guidance notes about the department's workload allocation model (WAM), including how to read the WAM spreadsheet, the principles and assumptions that underpin the WAM, and the allocations given to different areas of work. Decisions about workload allocation ultimately rest with the Head of Department, but if you have any questions about how the WAM works The WAM uses hours as the unit of measurement. These are approximate and timings are indicative, but should give an broad indication of the time commitment expected for different roles and tasks. These are spread across a full year, and there will be peaks and troughs in workload.

If you wish to provide feedback about specific time allocations, please contact Lucy at environment-hr@york.ac.uk or Roland at environment-hod@york.ac.uk.

The 'source of information' column indicates how we go about collecting this information - please check this before you query any discrepancies in the first instance.your allocated workload as in some cases there might be multiple ways of calculating an allowance and we will have sought out the best balance between precision and the amount of work required to collect the data. We do sense-check the data from these sources but please let us know if something looks very wrong!
