Winter Building Closure December 2024- January 2025
Please read this carefully as it states our position regarding energy saving and building operations over the winter period from Saturday 14th December to Sunday 5th January inclusive.
The University's goal in this period is to minimise energy consumption by closing down working spaces where this is operationally possible and providing alternative working spaces for those who usually need those spaces. In the Environment building we have a range of users and needs so instead of closing the building completely we have agreed on the following flexible arrangements for the space.
All E&G staff and PhD students
From Saturday 14th December 2024 until Sunday 5th January 2025 inclusive, we would strongly encourage all of you to work from home or from one of the office hubs being set up across campus (details of these will be released by the University shortly). You are also welcome to book space in SEI if available. Please send an email to sei-admin-manager@york.ac.uk if you would like to do this.
In addition to this, we would ask all of you to turn off your PCs and any other electrical equipment in your offices and turn your radiator controls to frostguard (*) when your office is empty.
PS Staff (admin)
For staff in the Student Services or General Admin teams, your normal work space in Chemistry will be available, and we can make further space elsewhere in Chemistry available too.
For other PS staff who normally work in ENV/035, you can either work remotely, take advantage of other space offered around campus, or we can look at finding you space in Chemistry too. Please contact Lucy if you would like to explore the latter, and make sure to talk to your line manager about these arrangements.
Laboratories - E&G, SEI and BioArCh
Staff and students requiring lab access (UG project students by special arrangement with the technical staff - email environment-technicians@york.ac.uk) - laboratories will be open (heated and ventilated) as per the details below.
SEI staff and students
The SEI area will be heated throughout the periods marked - E&G staff and PhD students who would like to work in that area can do so using the SEI booking system for the duration of the Winter closure period. Please send an email to sei-admin-manager@york.ac.uk if you would like to take up SEI's offer.
BioArCh
Please speak to Elizabeth - elizabeth.marshall@york.ac.uk to clarify any local arrangements
