Matt Smelt-Webb

Area(s) of Responsibility

I lead the Short Courses and Summer Schools team delivering short courses in York for groups of students and staff from international partners across the world. I am responsible for strategy and business development and all areas of management of the team. I co-direct the Centre for Global Programmes and am a member of the Global Engagement senior management team.

Professional Interests

Professional interests include student and staff mobility, leadership, team building, management, finance and building international partnerships.

External Activities

I regularly attend international education conferences. My publications include a business grammar pack and teacher’s books for business English coursebooks.

Further Information

I hold a post-graduate certificate and diploma in English Language Teaching and have a Masters in Management from the University of Durham Business School. I have over 20 years’ experience of teaching and managing language and skills programmes for both students and staff. I have worked in universities and language schools in the UK, Portugal, Turkey, the Czech Republic and Poland.
