Outline - The Board of Studies

Each Department in the University is run by a Board of Studies. Each member of the teaching staff is automatically a member of the Board and, in this department, research fellows and research assistants are also members. In most Departments, including Psychology, students are represented on the Board: there are two student representatives for each undergraduate year, two research students and a representative for each MSc course, who are elected each year. There are certain items of business - "starred items" - in which student members, research fellows and research assistants do not participate. These are concerned with examinations and student progress. Otherwise student members have a full say and contribute to the running of the Department.
Board meetings are held on Wednesday of Week 3 and Wednesday of Week 10 of each term. The current Chair of the Board of Studies is Dr Nick Barraclough.
