Important Information

IMPORTANT: Changes within PS management

As you will be aware, there are several upcoming changes to our PS teams due to VS. As well as these changes, there are a few others to clarify. Further to the below, please only use the generic email addresses, to make sure things are picked up in the right place. Please also understand that issues will be prioritised, which means your issue may not get picked up in a timely manner. Where possible, please use resources such as the University webpages and the wiki to find answers to your questions.

Please read the below carefully:

Deputy Head of Faculty Operations - now Head of Faculty Operations

The DHFO role has had a name change to Head of Faculty Operations. Lucy has now ended her secondment, and we welcome back Matthew to this role. Matthew will now be looking after both DEG and Chemistry - this is a big portfolio and will take some adjustment. For now, please only contact Matthew at the DHFO email address, for urgent or escalated issues only. Please also note that expense claims may take longer to be approved - please make sure expense claims are submitted in a timely manner, as claims submitted after 2 months run the risk of not being approved in time.

Email address: environment-dhfo@york.ac.uk

Student Services Manager

Unfortunately we are losing both of our Student Services Managers - huge thank you to both Jackie and Michelle for everything they have done for us. Alison Edmonds, who is currently the Student Services Manager for Chemistry, will be looking after both DEG and Chemistry going forward. In the first instance, please check the generic email list to see which area your enquiry is best sent to (i.e. UG/PGT/Assessment) - the Student Services Manager email should be used for escalation or management enquiries.

Email address: environment-studentservicemanager@york.ac.uk

Admin Manager

Lucy has now ended her secondment as DHFO and has returned to the Admin Manager post; we also still have Victoria working with us until 21st September. A huge thank you to Victoria for being a fantastic Admin Manager for the last year. Lucy will be Admin Manager for both DEG and Chemistry going forward. As with the above, please make sure you are only emailing non-personal accounts.

Offer of accomm during the week in York

Good afternoon. I am a retired university teacher living in Fishergate. I am writing to see if there are admin or academic staff who need to be in York 2-4 days a week but live elsewhere and are looking for comfortable accommodation when they are here. Briefly, there is a bed sitting + bathroom at the top of the house. Money to be discussed. I am often away myself as still do some work in Manchester.
