Types of appointment

There are several types of engagement - please review the options below and follow the links through to the right page to view the process.

Open recruitment

The preferred method of recruitment. Contracts can be fixed-term or permanent.

Direct appointment

To be used for named researchers, TUPE transfers, or a temporary need between 12 weeks - 6 months.

Internal recruitment

In the event of internal restructures or if a secondment is needed.

Casual worker

For casual work up to 12 weeks.

Note that GTAs are casual workers but that process is covered on the GTA page.

Temp pool

For temporary admin work up to 12 weeks.

Contract for services

Where we specify the work to be done and the date by which it is to be completed, but the individual has the freedom to carry out the work in the manner and at times of their own choosing.
