The Department of Psychology at the University of York offers two undergraduate courses, a three-year BSc and a four-year integrated Masters (MPsych) programme; these courses are primarily for students who are studying at university for the first time. We also offer 5 one-year postgraduate courses (MRes, MSc) for students who already have an undergraduate degree.

In addition to these taught courses, we also train research students (PhD) who carry out unique, substantial and original projects, typically lasting three years, and gain advanced research skills.

This section of our student documentation explains the structure of the courses and outlines the content covered in each.

Each taught course is divided into modules. When you are enrolled on a module you will be able to access its pages on the "Yorkshare" Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). The VLE provides the most up-to-date and accurate information on individual modules. For example, you will find information about the schedule, lectures, seminars, tutorials and assessments as well as detailed reading lists and learning materials such as powerpoint slides and handouts. In addition for many modules, lectures are automatically recorded and you can view the recordings on the VLE.

These pages do not provide the detailed day-to-day module-level information you'll find on the VLE, but you should find everything you need to understand the course structure and to plan your studies. If there's anything you can't find here, please let us know.
