The information contained here is a guide to the steps you must take in order to be granted access to the Environment Building research laboratories The process to follow is detailed below with links to specific documents and forms and these will follow or will be conducted along with . CoSHH and risk assessment forms should be completed following discussions with your supervisor and will require their signature. - Download and read the laboratory handbook:
- Complete your lab user agreement form and return it via email to environment-safety@york.ac.uk.
- Complete our online laboratory induction form to guide you through the induction process - this is essential and if you do not complete this form you cannot be granted access to the labsWatch the relevant lab induction videos.
- Complete a general risk assessment form to cover all laboratory aspects of your planned work and submit to environment-safety@york.ac.uk.
- If you are using any chemical or other hazardous substances in in any part of your work, submit complete your CoSHH assessment(s) and submit to environment-safety@york.ac.uk (You will be invited to make a copy to save an editable version of this document to your Google Drive, complete it and then share it with or send it to environment-safety@york.ac.uk)
- Submit your risk assessment(s) to environment-safety@york.ac.uk Please check here for forms you will need.
- Please contact the Environment technicians directly once
- Please allow up to 3 weeks for assessments to be approved.
- When you have completed the processes above steps above, please
your equipment sessions using Bookkit. You must not come to the Department until you have done this. Please do this in advance - at least 48 hours before. We will arrange for you to have an account on Bookkit after you have completed the steps above. We will also update your KABA student access card at the same time.
